Across Texas, there are currently almost 2,000 dams within 139 watershed projects encompassing 6.2 million acres and providing nearly $600 million in realized benefits. Several of these flood retardance structures were put to the test in the Uvalde area when 26 inches of rain fell in a 3-day span.
